Projects & Upcoming Trips

Our Ongoing Projects In Nicaragua -
A Few Ways God is Working Through Us For The World

La Esperanza/La Chureca - the school and the dump village.
Forward Edge continues to do great things there. Our teams visit each trip and identify needs that we as a church can help with. Other organizations have helped the residents by starting micro-loan/micro-business programs there. Our most recent team noticed the positive change in the living areas there. Things are "cleaner" in the living areas and some of the people are making a living. There is still much to be done and many kids who need protection.

Motastepe
The church that we helped get going again is still a work in progress. We started construction there three years ago after the shell sat for seven years with nothing done to it. Since then, the exterior walls, floor perimeter walls and security bars have been built. The roof was replaced and our July team started the two bathrooms. Pastor Eliezar and his family are in thir new home that the church raised the money to buy. Our team last year worked on the house getting it ready for them. The family is very happy there and they have a two minute walk to the church. Prior to that it was a 30-40 minute commute for Eliezar. We were told by Gloria that more families have since joined the church and Eliezar's wife is becoming a vital part of the ministry. The mothers from Motastepe are now connected with her due to her residing in the same village.

Villa Esperanza
The original 15 girls have been in the Villa for a year now. The change in all of them is dramatic. They still struggle with past events but they are getting help, encouragement and an education in their new environment.

Two more kids homes are near completion but Forward Edge can't move the next 16 girls in due to a lack of sponsorships. Although the Villa is up and running Forward Edge needs funds for the daily costs of supporting the girls. Forward Edge offers sponsorships on their webpage www.forwardedge.org. Please consider helping out and making a big difference in a girl's life.

Other Projects
Recently we visited two new potential projects. A nearby school is in severe disrepair. There is little money to do anything about it. The main issue is the need for a new roof. This would be an expensive project and we are just looking at the problem now for future consideration.

Another new location that we visited is a place called HAT. It is a protection center for abandoned, abused and menatlly challenged kids. There is much work to be done there also. The facility is an old technical school and sat empty for a long time.

"If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth." - 1 John 3:17-18

WHY BECOME INVOLVED?
