MISSION: FOX MILL FARM
Mission Ministry's local effort to help local girls' shelter.
Gulf Gate Church has chosen Fox Mill Farm as one of our local Mission opportunities. This mission began in July 2006 in the aftermath of Hurricane Charley. Work continues as we send more volunteers to help with general clean up and areas of disrepair at the Farm. A team of about 20 people went out in late May 2008. The next work day is scehduled for October 4th, 2008.
Why Fox Mill?
Fox Mill Farm is owned by Eldon and Cindy Miller, who foster teenage girls as well as rescue and shelter neglected and abused horses (and a whole host of other animals). Cindy and Eldon care for the girls and teach the girls to care for the animals. They also love the Lord and provide a faith-based, loving home for the girls -- some who stay only for a few days, and some who stay for years. Their door is always open. In fact, they recently took a foster daughter back whose new family "changed their minds" after 3 months.
Insurance didn't cover anything near the $9,000 damage they sustained to their barn roof from Charley, so we organized an effort to help them get the roof repaired and do some badly needed general clean up.
This kind of venture is THE mission of GGC.
This local mission gives GGC members the opportunity to get off the sideline and into the game. We are a MISSION-Driven church, that means everyone one of us who follows Jesus is a part of THE Mission...we are His plan. The Missions Ministry is formed by volunteers on an as needed basis. No matter what your ability, there is a place for you in this mission. Please contact us today to sign up.
