Sonia McKee
 Born in London, England Sonia McKee came to Sarasota 15 years ago for a long vacation, fell in love with the beauty of the place and stayed. Sonia has a 38 year old son, Ashley William McKee (Ashe) who lives in England. Her Florida family includes Holly a rescued Poodle/Shih-Tzu, two Siamese cats Tai-Tai and Chi-Chi and, of course her church family.
Sonia heard about GGC through friends and decided to give it a try. She had periodically attended Sarasota Baptist over the years, but never found what she was looking for. It only took a few visits to GGC for her to know what it was she was seeking. She found it - a family, involvement and above all a reason to be faithful and believe. Over the years she has hardly missed a Sunday at GGC.
Her involvement with GGC includes greeting our congregation on Sunday mornings, once a month helping with the Kids Sunday School and is part of the Drama Group. One day she hopes to go on one of our mission trips.
In England she was a journalist. Nine years ago she joined the Sarasota Herald-Tribune as a compositor and is now a Sales Assistant / Coordinator combining her journalism with assisting Sales Reps. Occasionally she has time to spend on her hobbies which include arts and crafts, dressmaking and even DIY. From an early age athletics and sports dominated her life, these have included swimming, running, horse riding, trampolining and English ball sports. When she left England she was European Masters Champion in her age group for Springboard/Highboard diving. Now she just plays pool.
Sonia is looking forward to strengthening her faith and knowing His will for her. We are so happy to have Sonia as a part of our family here at GGC.
